Welcome to Cub Scouts parent booklet

Please note that some of these details have now been overridden by further updates made in December 2016. Check out 2016 Cub Scout Updates for more info.

My third son is a Cub Scout and I’m only just starting to understand how the program works. I put together the answers to a few FAQ’s that may help other parents who are new to scouting. I’m hoping we can start giving this out to the parents in our pack.

It’s two pages, meant to be printed or copied front to back in full color, then folded in half.

Welcome to Cub Scouts bookletThe one I put together for our pack is a little bit customized, but this one should be easy enough for you to fill it for your own pack. For example, the arrow above indicates places for your Wolf den and pack information.

The interior is very similar, with some blank spaces that you can fill out with your local information. You’ll notice that it’s also specific to LDS dens (hence the Religious Knot and Faith in God information). Fill out info on your local Scout Shop and your Primary Faith in God specialist or the name of your Primary Presidency counselor over Cubs or Faith in God.

This little booklet would actually be perfect for a Baptism Preview night. It’s a quick overview of what to expect from Cub Scouts ages 8-11.

Thank you so much for making these files available to other leaders. It makes planning for the program much more exciting!!!

  • Maria

Thank you for sharing! I’m going to start giving this to our Cub Scout parents.

  • Missy Saunders

We have some overwhelmed new wolf parents in our ward!

  • Rachel Davis

I would be happy to send it to you but I didn’t create it in Word–it’s an Adobe Illustrator file. If you have Illustrator, I’d be happy to send it over!

    Hello Rachel,
I love your handout. I really want to use it for my pack, but I would like to customize it some more. I cannot edit PDF’s on my computer. Do you have this as an editable Word Document?

  • Rachel Davis

They are available for download as a PDF above. I created them in Photoshop. Let me know if that works for your purposes and I can email the files to you!

  • mandi

Any chance you could make it available as a PDF? We do some things a little bit differently and I wold like to be able to use your wonderful booklet with those changes.

  • Rachel Davis

Uh oh, it’s working ok from my end! It’s kind of a big file, so there may be a little lag. You may also want to switch browsers. Chrome works better than Safari for me, fyi. Let me know if you still have issues and I will email it to you.

the Cover page isn’t working when i download it.
Btw, thank you for doing this!!!

  • Libbey

This is perfect! I came to Pinterest first this morning before starting to create something (before our Baptism Preview which is today after church) and found this!! It is exactly, and more, what I wanted to distribute. Thank you for your talent and time!

  • Nanette

This is a wonderful resource. Thank you for taking the time to make it and then sharing it with the rest of us!

  • Rachel Davis

Thanks *so* much for the idea to add a Cub Scout belt as a required uniform item! It will certainly be necessary with the new program. I’ve updated the parent letter and printable with the belt included. Best wishes!

  • KC

This is the best welcome letter I have found by far. Thanks for your contributions in helping our leaders and families.

  • Loretta

I LOVE this…it will be most helpful to our new parents. Thanks for sharing your hard work.
